The question is, what do you do when you have a site in Bristol brimming with exciting, ambitious startups and know a bunch of investors in London?

Arrange a meeting? Skype call? Long, formal conference? Not really our style here at Runway. We prefer scavenger hunts. And parties.

Last week, we hosted both a launch party to celebrate the opening of Runway East Bristol AND a scavenger hunt to connect investors and founders in the area. Both were a success – and hope everyone had a blast like we did!

Scavengers….All of You

At 4PM two teams of investors and founders could be seen streaming out of 1 Victoria St, armed with pink trunkis and yellow ponchos, in search of treasure. The mission of the hunt was to collect as many items off the list as possible, ranging from local Bristol currency to copies of Crack magazine, whilst navigating the stop off-points on the map and taking various photos and videos along the way to prove they had completed all the challenges.

The photos and videos were uploaded to an app called Sauce, a video collaboration platform, whose founder Priya and CTO Jonathan came along with us. Their editing wizz, Serena, then remotely edited all the content and came up with an awesome video of the day which was screened back at Runway East.

Party Animals….All of You

The hunt ended back at 1 Victoria St just as our Bristol Launch Party was kicking into full-swing and, with the scores tied, their final task was to get a piece of sellotape from our Management Accountant James – which Team 1 managed to find first! Despite cries of foul play from an indignant Team 2, they soon quieted down once we starting handing out bottles of prosecco to each player. So, congrats to Team 1, commiserations to Team 2, and thank you everyone for coming down and making it such an awesome event.
