Best Work Lunch Spots in Whitechapel

Runway East

3rd June 2022

Fancy treating the team to a bite to it but need some inspiration? We’ve got you covered.

With our swanky new space opening at The Hickman between Aldgate East and Whitechapel later this year, we’ve been on the lookout for the best lunch spots in the area.

Circle & Slice

A cracking independent with a flair for great homemade sourdough pizza and authentic Italian desserts. You can dine-in, takeaway or get a cheeky delivery to your office. Plus with decent gluten free and vegan options, everyone’s happy. It’s only a 2-minute walk from our new Aldgate East option, so what are you waiting for?

Townsend Restaurant

Maybe you’re taking a client out for lunch or want to treat the team for a fancy meal. If that’s the case, Townsend is the place for you. Set within the iconic Whitchapel gallery, the menu changes daily and highlights exceptional, seasonal produce. And the weekday lunch set menu is a steal with two courses for £19 or three for £24 — and don’t forget a cheeky glass of house wine for an extra £4!

Patisserie East

Located within the London Muslim Centre complex on Whitechapel Road, Patisserie East’s entire menu is halal and locally sourced goodness. Grab yourself a homemade lamb burger or push the boat out and enjoy something (sweet or savory, we don’t judge here) from the creperie. Plus Patisserie East is truly community driven and works with charity Apasen to provide employment opportunities to those with special needs.

Emilia’s

Not much beats comfort food on a rainy weekday in the office — and Emilia’s delivers just that *chef’s kiss x 1,000*. Their pasta is made fresh every morning and cooked with recipes passed down through the generations so you know it’s going to be good. You’ll be transported to Italy with the rustic plastered walls and terracotta tiles as the restaurant gives a nod to the louder side of the country. Plus the open-plan kitchen is the length of the restaurant and means you can drool while your food is being prepared.

Dilpasand

Starting in the heart of Pakistan back in the 1990s, the Dilpasand chefs have truly mastered their cuisine and deliver authentic Pakistani, Indian and Afgani flavours. Be sure to take a look at the insanely long menu before you arrive to avoid the pressure of being the last one making your decision. And if that isn’t enough to make you fall in love with the place, Dilpasand is a native Urdu word meaning favourite of your heart. Swoon away.

Bar + Block

Got a business lunch at 2pm but meeting your friends at 5pm? Bar + Block has got you. With hand-cut steaks on the grill and an exquisite cocktail in hand, you can’t really go wrong. Plus bar + Block does a lot to support its community and charities it cares for. The restaurant donates surplus food and has pledged a minimum of £500,000 to support the people of Ukraine.
